Born in San Diego December 31, 1961

Started riding bicycles without training wheels at age 3

First bike: Yamaha 60cc mini enduro age 10

First race: Slidel, Louisiana age10 - last place!

1978: #40 250cc Amateur National Champion ? on a Bultaco!

1979: #333 turned professional and got worked.

1980: #93 Signed with Kawasaki’s new Team Green program and won the
Trans-USA 250cc support class

1981: #45 Riding for Kawasaki and Fox, I got worked some more but
showed potential.

1982: #23 Signed with Team Honda.
Member of winning MX and Trophy Des Nations team. I
joined the team as an alternate for Donnie Hansen. Donnie smoked
everybody in 1982. In preparation for the MX Des Nations, he crashed and
was never able to regain the form that carried him to the 1982 SX and
250cc National Championships.

1983: #11 Supercross Champion
250cc National Champion
Grand National Champion ? Wrangler sponsored the
Supercross and outdoor National series’ and put up $30,000 for the rider
with the most points combined. The winner got the money and the blue and
yellow number plate!
1st place- 250GP Unadilla
Member of MX and Trophy Des Nations winning team

1984: #1 500cc National Champion

1985: #1 Arm pump National Champion ? won some big races, but no
titles
1st place- 500GP at Carlsbad

1986: #6 500cc National Champion

1987: #2 Went over the bars!

1988 ?1993: Fell off the map.

1994: Started my TV career for ESPN
won the inaugural Walt Disney World Marathon wheelchair
division

1997: Decided to do the Hawaii Ironman

1998: Finished the Ironman ? 3rd

1999: Finished it again - 2nd

2000: Ironman World Champion!

2001: Pretty tired so I took some time off

2002: Working on this website and enjoying some of the best racing
EVER!
