ANALYZING VIDEO
How often do you see yourself riding or racing on video? Have you ever seen yourself on video? If the answer is sometimes or not at all, you have a huge hole in your program! Whether you just want to ride better and more in control or compete at the highest levels of amateur and professional racing, video is crucial for improvement.
I watched myself on video all the time. Todays top pros watch themselves after each practice at the races. Some riders even have more than one camera on them as well as the other riders out there to find every edge possible. The camera doesn't lie! it tells you if your lines are good or slower, places you can be more aggressive and can even help with setting up your bike better. In other sports, video is a major part of the weekly routine and motocross should be the same.
Most riders don't ride by themselves all week, so it makes perfect sense to bring the camera and have somebody film you for at least a few laps, through a section you are working on and some starts and watch it when you get home. Not only can you clean up your style, it shows you where you are coasting too much, not following through, not far enough forward and many other things.
At times, I got tired of people telling me what they thought I should be doing out there, but they are like cameras seeing the things you can't! So if you don't have a camera and are trying to improve, my suggestion is that you get one right now! To take it a step further, send me your footage and I will watch it, break it down and call you with all the things I notice. I'll point out what I feel you are doing well as well as areas I feel you can improve, whether it be body positioning, lines, aggression, technique etc. After our conversation I will send an email with the bullet points on what we discussed for you to practice so you don't forget. This will only cost you $100! Once I have viewed the footage, I will send it back with a printout listing the bullet points and practice tips for your records and in case you don't have email.
Obviously, the more specific the video the less time it takes to break it down for you. The turn around is fast since there is no editing required! Just send your video (any format) to:
