NEW KART TRACK
The latest hot spot or fun and some MX cross training is the new indoor kart track in Corona. I heard all about it and decided to check it out. Sometimes these new projects don’t live up to the hype, but Pole Position is actually better than I thought it would be.
As soon as you go through the front door there’s an Indy car sitting there, James Stewart’s complete outfit, Chad Reed’s outfit, Jeff Ward’s Supermoto bike and Jeremy McGrath’s factory Honda on display. It took me a while to finally drive the karts because I was so busy looking around at all the stuff on display.
What I like of course is that there are 2 karts with hand controls for people like myself such as Ricky James who has already put in some hot laps and rubbed some paint. I’ve heard Fonseca is there quite often as is Ivan “Hat Trick” Tedesco, Larocco, McGrath, Short, Metzger and more. If you live in So Cal and want to battle with the pros, Pole Position is your chance to put in some hot laps as fast or faster than Jeremy McGrath! As soon as you pull in you get a complete printout of everything. Your position, your best lap, your ranking to date, your average lap and so on. That’s what keeps me motivated and going back. I know I can go faster. Prices are reasonable too starting at $20 for a 14- lap moto and only $15 if you’re a member. It’s $45 for a year membership, which includes a free moto and T-shirt on the day you sign up and another free moto on your birthday!
These karts are fast! There is a place in Anaheim and another one in Carlsbad, but these karts smoke those. They also allow you to really race hard and bump a little bit as long as you don’t just completely T-bone somebody. Between motos you can grab a sandwich, play video game or a game of pool. So check this place out at; www.racep2r.com
See you there
