It doesn’t get any closer than this. Halfway through the main event, I needed to pass Rick Johnson and one more rider to win the 1983 supercross championship. I was so nervous I could barely ride. Rick was in his first race since he dislocated his hip. As we came over the finish line jump, Rick’s front end washed out and I ran right over his hip! Somehow I saved it and went on to win the title. Later, RJ signed this photo for me. It was a relief that I stayed up and won the title, but it was also a relief for Rick. After getting run over like that, he wasn’t worried about his hip any more.

Since I get a lot of requests for old photos, I put some more in the gallery. It’s a mixture of old stuff and new stuff. Enjoy
